Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about WolfScribed.

Getting Started

What is WolfScribed?

WolfScribed is a writing feedback and manuscript management tool. You paste or upload your writing, and it gives you a score, a plain-English summary, and a detailed breakdown of grammar, style, consistency, and formatting issues — along with explanations so you actually learn from the feedback, not just fix it. WolfScribed does not generate content for you; every word in your manuscript is yours.

Do I need to create an account?

Yes. A free account gives you 3 analyses per month with no credit card required. Creating an account also lets your documents save automatically so you never lose your work.

What document types does WolfScribed support?

You can write directly in the editor, paste text, or upload DOCX, PDF, TXT, and EPUB files. Pro users can bulk upload multiple files at once — useful if you're importing an existing manuscript.

Plans & Pricing

What does the free plan include?

Free accounts get 3 analyses per month, up to 3,000 characters per analysis, and access to General document mode. You also get live spell check, the writing score, issue filters, editor review mode, and learning mode — all for free.

What does Pro add?

Pro ($9/mo or $79/year) unlocks unlimited analyses up to 50,000 characters each, all document modes (Novel, Academic, Blog, Business, Technical, Textbook), the Your Work projects dashboard, bulk file upload, cross-document consistency checking, character and location reference sheets, the story bible, and PDF/Word export.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — every new account gets a 7-day free trial with full Pro access. No credit card required. At the end of the trial you can subscribe to keep Pro features, or stay on the free plan.

Can I cancel Pro at any time?

Yes. You can cancel from your Account page at any time. You'll keep Pro access until the end of your billing period.

Is there a limit on how much I can write?

There's no limit on how much you store or how long your documents can be. The per-analysis character limit (3,000 on free, 50,000 on Pro) only applies to each individual analysis run.

AI & Your Writing

Does WolfScribed write anything for me?

No. WolfScribed is a feedback tool, not a writing tool. It reads what you've written and points out issues — grammar, style, consistency, and formatting — the same way an editor or writing partner would. Every sentence in your manuscript comes from you. WolfScribed never adds, rewrites, or suggests replacement text beyond optional single-word grammar corrections.

I'm a writer who prefers to avoid AI. Is WolfScribed right for me?

That's a completely valid preference, and WolfScribed was designed with it in mind. You control how much AI involvement you want. You can use WolfScribed purely as a manuscript organizer — keeping chapters, character sheets, and a story bible in one place — and rely entirely on your human beta readers for feedback. The AI analysis features are opt-in; nothing runs without you clicking Analyze.

Does WolfScribed use my writing to train AI models?

No. When you run an analysis or generate a story bible summary, the relevant text is sent to Claude (by Anthropic) to generate feedback. WolfScribed does not use your writing to train AI models, and Anthropic's API terms prohibit using API submissions for model training. Your writing is yours.

What does the AI actually see when I run an analysis?

When you click Analyze, the text in your editor is sent to Claude along with your document mode (Novel, Academic, etc.) and any story bible context from your other finalized chapters. Claude returns structured feedback — a score, a summary, and a list of flagged issues. That's it. The AI doesn't retain your writing between sessions.

Beta Readers

What is a beta reader?

A beta reader is a real person — a trusted friend, writing partner, or critique group member — who reads your manuscript before it's published and gives you human feedback. WolfScribed makes it easy to share your project with beta readers through a clean, read-only view of your work.

How do I invite a beta reader?

From your project page, open the Beta Readers panel and enter your reader's email address. They'll receive an invite link that gives them read-only access to your manuscript. They'll need a free WolfScribed account to accept — no paid plan required.

What can beta readers see and do?

Beta readers get a distraction-free reading view of the documents in your project. They can read your chapters but cannot edit anything, run analyses, or see your story bible or reference sheets. Their access is strictly read-only.

Can I remove a beta reader's access?

Yes. You can remove a beta reader at any time from the Beta Readers panel on your project page. Their invite link will stop working immediately.

How Analysis Works

What's the difference between live spell check and Analyze?

Live spell check runs in the background as you type and catches spelling mistakes, word confusion (their/there), and basic grammar errors instantly. Analyze is a deeper AI pass — it reads your writing in full and flags run-on sentences, style issues, consistency problems, formatting, and more. They're complementary: spell check for quick fixes while you write, Analyze for a full review when you're ready.

What does the writing score mean?

The score is a 0–100 rating based on the number and severity of issues found relative to the length of your writing. It's a quick snapshot, not a judgement — a score of 70 on a complex academic paper means something different than 70 on a short blog post.

What is Learning Mode?

Learning mode teaches you the pattern behind an issue, then asks you to find similar instances in your own writing rather than just applying fixes automatically. It's designed to build habits so your first drafts get better over time.

What document modes are available, and why do they matter?

Modes include General, Novel, Academic, Blog, Business, Technical, and Textbook. The mode tunes the analysis to your genre — for example, Novel mode understands that comma splices can be intentional stylistic choices, while Academic mode will flag informal tone. General is available on the free plan; all others require Pro.

Projects & Story Bible

What is a project?

A project is a container for a related set of documents — one novel, one screenplay, one report, etc. Pro users can create unlimited projects, each with its own document library, character sheet, location sheet, and story bible.

How does the story bible work?

When you mark a document as Final, WolfScribed generates an AI summary of that chapter or section. These summaries build your story bible — a running record of your narrative — which is then used during analysis to catch continuity errors, name changes, and contradictions across your entire manuscript.

What are character and location sheets?

Reference sheets that WolfScribed builds automatically from your story bible. One click extracts characters (with appearance, personality, backstory, and relationships) or locations (with description, atmosphere, and history) from your summaries. You can also add and edit entries manually.

Privacy & Data

Is my writing stored?

Yes — your documents are saved to your account so you can access them any time. Your writing is stored securely and is only accessible to you.

Is my writing sent to an AI?

Only when you choose to run an analysis or generate a story bible summary — never automatically in the background. The relevant text is sent to Claude (by Anthropic) to produce feedback, then discarded. WolfScribed does not use your writing to train AI models. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. You can delete individual documents from within the editor or your project. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at wolfscribed@gmail.com.
