A Forbidden Map
Goal: Establish Lyra's curiosity and the forbidden knowledge that sets everything in motion.
Lyra finds a sealed cartography tube hidden behind a false shelf in the Archive Tower. The map inside shows a wing of the Vault that officially doesn't exist.
The Elder's Warning
Goal: Deepen the mystery — Elder Maren knows more than she'll say.
Lyra brings the map to Elder Maren, who goes pale. She refuses to explain but warns Lyra to leave it alone. Her warning only makes Lyra more determined.
The Plan
Goal: Show Lyra and Seren's dynamic — Seren is practical where Lyra is reckless.
Lyra recruits Seren. They spend two days charting the Vault's guard rotations and mapping an entry route through the old aqueduct. Seren has serious doubts.
First Attempt
Goal: First attempt fails — raise the stakes and force a harder choice.
They get inside the Vault but Voss has changed the locks. They barely escape. Seren wants to quit. Lyra refuses.
Seren Captured
Goal: Take the lowest point — Lyra's choices cost someone else.
Voss arrests Seren using information he shouldn't have. Lyra realises someone inside the Keeper's Guild betrayed them. Her trust in the system collapses.
The Only Way In
Goal: Force the climax: Lyra must go alone and face Voss directly.
